Why Men’s Groups Matter (Now More Than Ever)

Let’s be honest, most of us men weren’t raised to talk about how we feel.

We were taught to crack on, keep it in, and sort it out ourselves.

But carrying everything alone eventually catches up with you.

Over the years, I’ve worked with a lot of men who’ve hit breaking point. Often the stress is continuously piling up, and they feel like they’re failing at home and/or work. Sleep is poor, they are spending more and more time on their phone, and they’re wondering how they can cope with the massive pressure life brings.

It’s not weakness.

It’s silence.

It’s isolation.

We weren’t designed to do life alone. And we definitely weren’t designed to carry everything without support. Most men I talk to don’t have close male friends that they can share their feelings with, neither do they have close emotional relationships with their dad’s or other male figures.

That’s why I support a local group called Mentality Men’s Club a weekly, in-person space where men of all ages come together to talk about life. No pressure, no judgement, just honest conversations about the stuff that actually matters.

It’s not therapy. But it is powerful.

Every week I see what happens when one bloke says something real, something he’s maybe never said out loud before, and another man nods and says, “Yeah, I know that feeling.”

That moment of recognition changes things. You realise you’re not the only one.

So why do men’s groups matter?

Because we need spaces where we don’t have to perform or pretend.
Because talking helps.
Because listening helps.
Because being seen for who you really are, not who you think you should be, makes a difference.

Thinking about coming?

If you’re local, Mentality Men’s Club meets every Tuesday evening from 8.00–9.30pm in Rayleigh. It’s a relaxed, welcoming space, and you can just turn up.

No need to book, no need to have it all figured out.

You can find more info at mentalitymensclub.com

And if you’re not local, or you’re going through something and not sure who to talk to, I offer 1-to-1 therapy sessions for men who are ready to stop trying to go it alone and get some proper support.

Whether it’s stress, anxiety, relationship struggles, overthinking, or just feeling stuck, you don’t have to do it all on your own.

I offer a FREE 20 minute, online initial consultation, so get in touch.
